Mansfield Stadium was built with funds donated by author and resident of Bangor, Stephen King.
“When the field was built by the Kings and the rest of us here in the city, it was dedicated to my son Shawn, who was a 14-year-old child [with cerebral palsy] when he passed away,” said Dave Mansfield. “And it was dedicated on behalf of all of the kids that never had an opportunity to play the great game of baseball.”
