Here are the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading while shocked that Vincent D’Onofrio got snubbed by the Golden Globes for his awesome turn as Kingpin in the Daredevil series for Netflix.

*According to Pierre Lebrun, the Los Angeles Kings want to start contract extension talks with Milan Lucic.

*Ryan Lambert is investigating trade rumors, in this case it’s Steve Stamkos being linked to the Toronto Maple Leafs because he “liked” a tweet. Because if there’s anybody I want opining on the veracity of trade rumors, it’s somebody that has zero legitimate sources or real insight into whether or not it’s true. The guy driving the Zamboni at your local rink could give you the same kind of take on Stamkos/Toronto.

*Senators GM Bryan Murray says that a comeback for veteran Ottawa defenseman Chris Philips is a “longshot.”

*In the interest of shameless plugging, here’s my radio hit with the Toucher and Rich show to talk Bruins on Thursday morning.

*I knew Bruce Lerch a little bit during my days covering high school sports, and I was sad to learn of his tragic passing way too soon. Here’s a Memorial Scholarship fund set up in honor of the late Herald sportswriter.

*George Gwozdecky has gone from being on the bench for the Lightning in the Stanley Cup Final to a high school coach in Denver this season.

*For something completely different: a NASA engineer says that an actual asteroid would be the best way to build a Death Star.
