FOXBORO -- The New England Revolution played to a 1-1 draw with the New York Red Bulls on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium, thanks to a quick letdown following the 1-0 lead that New England took in the second half.
Diego Fagundez put the Revolution up 1-0 in the 54th minute as he finished his own rebound on a Chris Tierney corner kick.
Tierney's corner found Fagundez out front, and Fagundez put a semi-bicycle kick on goal, which was stopped at the goal line by Red Bulls defender Kosuke Kimura. The rebound bounced right back to Fagundez, who buried his second opportunity.
But not even a full minute later, New York tied the game at 1-1 thanks to Lloyd Sam goal from the right side of the box. Sam received a nice lead pass from the right sideline, and buried a low shot far-side, just inside the left post for he goal.
Late in the second half, Fagundez had two more golden opportunities to score on one-timers out front, but he was robbed by Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles on one, and shot the other over the net, resulting in the 1-1 draw.
