The Revs will face the Chicago Fire in Foxboro on Saturday without one of their biggest offensive threats after midfielder Lee Nguyen was suspended for one match and fined an undisclosed amount by Major League Soccer for stepping on the back of Real Salt Lake defender John Stertzer in New England's 2-1 loss on July 4.
The released from the MLS said the league's disciplinary committee fined and suspended Nguyen for "endangering the safety of an opponent and bringing the game into disrepute..."
Nguyen stepped on Sterzer's lower back after Nguyen passed the ball in the 57th minute of the match.
Nguyen leads the Revs with five goals and has one assists. He also leads the team in fouls committed (32) and has been fouled the most (37) of any player on the team.
