Volin: How long will Brady fight his suspension?

To fight or not to fight.

With Tom Brady's appeal rapidly approaching, many are wondering if he is going to fight to clear his name completely or just try to shorten his suspension.

Ben Volin doesn't expect things to go all the way to court between Brady and the NFL.

"It's probably the best for the team if he takes it early in the season, they can prepare for it, it's just weeks one and two," said Volin. "I think what you're hearing from Brady's camp now is, this thing is a negotiation. They're going to try to negotiate as much of the suspension away. You don't start with your real offer. You start going over the top and say, 'we want the entire suspension wiped out' then you negotiate it down.

"I think the people around Brady want him to fight this to the death. I think the NFLPA wants to as well. I think [the Patriots] will provide a not-so-subtle reminder that yes, it's in the team's best interest if we know when your suspension is going to be"
