Wes Welker's departure from the Patriots wasn't exactly warm and fuzzy, we know that.
Now that he's set to return as a member of the Broncos on Sunday - if he is cleared medically after sustaining a concussion - will his old coach Bill Belichick say some nice things about his former slot receiver?
We're still waiting after Belichick spoke to the media on Wednesday, leading Boston Globe columnist Dan Shaughnessy to surmise that Belichick "hates" Welker.
"I'd like a nice word about Welker," Shaughnessy said on "Uno Sports Tonight," Wednesday night. "He hates Welker. That's how it sounds to me."
Shaughnessy pointed out that Belichick threw Pats' Super Bowl hero Adam Vinatieri some verbal bouquets when he returned as a member of the Colts for the first time.
"All this guy did is run through walls for him," Shaughnessy said of Welker.
Perhaps it all goes back to that dropped pass in the Super Bowl? co-host Andy Gresh theorized.
And WEEI's Kirk Minihane chimed in: "I don't know what went on behind the scenes, but there's a real dislike there."
