Merloni: Patriots should protect Gronk, not rush him back

Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski should only miss a week or two with the injury he suffered on Sunday night against the Denver Broncos, according to multiple reports.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Rob Gronkowski's return date will be a pain-tolerance issue.

Even if Gronk appears to be ready to go, Lou Merloni thinks the Patriots should err on the side of caution with their star tight end.

“Once you attach ‘pain tolerance,’ now you put the pressure on the athlete to go out there and play,” said Merloni. “I don’t think they should be doing that with Gronk. They should actually be protecting him a little bit more.”
