There has been a lot of talk about the Patriots re-tooled defense, but the offense hopes to make an impact as well.
Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels told Tom E. Curran to expect some new wrinkles from the Patriots offense this season.
"What will be interesting is when you see Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman, both have emerged, to a degree, as real core players," said Curran. "What can you do with two slots [receivers]? And then like LaFell and Thompkins who are similar, and then you throw in Gronk. It's interesting, I'm sure they'll have something."
Speaking of the Patriots wideouts, Curran pointed out Danny Amendola and Tom Brady were having some communication issues at Thursday's practice.
"Not fully satisfied was Brady by some of the releases that Danny Amendola was getting on some of the fade routes that they did from inside the ten yard line," explained Curran. "You shouldn't read into it that he doesn't know what he's doing, maybe Brady's trying to tweak something that Amendola hasn't gotten. But the fact that he hasn't gotten it yet is a little eyebrow raising."
