BOSTON - Jon Lester won't be the lone Red Sox All-Star representative after all.
Reliever Koji Uehara was added to the American League squad Wednesday night, replacing countryman Masahiro Tanaka on the A.L. pitching staff.
Tanaka was placed on the disabled list earlier Wednesday with inflammation in his right elbow.
Now in his sixth major league season, Uehara will be taking part in his first All-Star game. In 40 games this season, Uehara is 4-2 with 18 saves in 19 opportunities and an ERA of 1.30.
Over 41 2/3 innings, Uehara has allowed just 25 hits. He's struck out 52 and walked just six.
