Still rocking that massive beard, World Series-winning Red Sox first baseman Mike Napoli was courtside for the Bobcats-Celtics game at the TD Garden on Wednesday night.
After getting his requisite standing ovation from the crowd when he appeared on the Jumbotron, Napoli talked to CSNNE Celtics sideline reporter Abby Chin.
Napoli, now a free agent, said it was "still early in the offseason" to have much of an update on his contract talks. He did express his desire to stay in Boston.
"This is the place I want to play," Napoli said. "Hopefully, it works out."
According to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports, Napoli has gotten a multi-year offer from the Red Sox but is looking to shop around.

This is the second year in a row Napoli has been a free agent. He signed with the Red Sox last winter for what was originally a three-year, $39 million deal. The contract was reduced to a one-year, incetive-laden deal because of Napoli's degenerative hip condition. He reached the incentives and wound up making $13 million for the season, in which he hit .259 with 23 homers and 92 RBI.
So while staying in Boston might still be up in the air, is the beard staying on Napoli?
"Going to try to [keep it]," Napoli said. "Try to keep it as clean as possible for the ladies."
