With recently acquired utilityman Kelly Johnson off the disabled list after a groin injury, he has joined the Red Sox in St. Louis for the game Thursday night against the Cardinals and outfielder Mookie Betts has been sent back down to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Johnson, acquired from the Yankees last week just before the trade deadline for Stephen Drew, was 0-for-6 in a two-game rehab assignment with Double-A Portland. He was hitting .219 for the Yankees.
Betts, 21,called up initially last month, sent back down and recalled again Aug. 1, hit .244 with Boston after hitting .342 between Portland and Pawtucket.
