World Series MVP David Ortiz was named the American League's Silver Slugger winner at designated hitter on Wednesday.

It's the second time Ortiz has won the award since 2007 and his sixth Silver Slugger overall (2004-2007 and 2011), which ties him with Manny Ramirez and Wade Boggs for the most in Red Sox history.

Ortiz, 37, hit .309 with 30 homers and 103 RBI in a bounce-back season after he missed most of the second half of 2012 with an Achilles' injury.

Ortiz was a force in the postseason. He hit a memorable game-tying grand slam in Game 2 of the ALCS against the Detroit and hit .688 with two homers and six RBI in the World Series and came away with his third world championship in Boston, to go with 2007 and 2004.
