TORONTO - The first starting five of the Brad Stevens era  will be Avery Bradley, Jeff Green, Gerald Wallace, Brandon Bass and Vitor Faverani.

Of the group, Faverani is the most intriguing.

The 6-foot-11 center has made tremendous strides since the start of training camp, enough to where Stevens may have little choice going forward but to start the 25-year-old rookie.

"We need some size, length whether it be Vitor or Kelly," Stevens said. "That showed itself in a few of those exhibition games, at the start of those games."

Faverani started the final preseason game for the Celtics and tallied 15 points and six blocked shots.

Stevens was quick to say that Faverani getting the starting nod had more to do with his overall progress than just one game.

"It has been a lot more about what he has done consistently," Stevens said. "Regardless of when his opportunities have been, he's played pretty consistently and well."

The idea of starting, let alone on opening night, was something Faverani never saw coming.

"No. I never imagined that; never," Faverani said. "I can't believe it now."

Butterflies perhaps?

"No. I'm fine," he said, grinning.

Having played professionally for years prior to signing with the Celtics, has helped him keep his nerves in check.

"I play [many]  games like this," Faverani said. "If you nervous, make bad decisions, mistakes."
