Dubious blog post says Celtics will sign Hayward

So here's the world we live in now . . .

Someone you likely haven't heard of, writing on a website you likely haven't read, says the Celtics will sign Gordon Hayward, citing someone who seemingly doesn’t exist.

Can't get more solid than that, can you?

Writing on nbaquickreport.com, author Mike Hardy writes that Hayward’s meeting with the Jazz Monday was to inform his team that he’d be leaving for Boston. This, Hardy writes, is according to a “new report from a NBA insider” but links to nothing.

MORE:

These sorts of reports float around routinely, but this -- the limbo between the time the Celtics met with Hayward and when he makes his decision -- means a public hungry for information will latch onto virtually any morsel  of "news" it can find. This qualifies as one of those morsels. But is it "news"? Well . . .

Yet it's out there, sitting next to the Tweets of the Adrian Wojnarowskis of the world. Woj, for his part, is reporting no such thing. His last Hayward news was from two days ago, on Joe Ingles returning to Utah.

The rumors -- credible and not-so-credible -- will continue until we get word, one way or the other, of Hayward's intent.

The sooner the better, let's hope.
