When explaining why he did not re-sign Jarome Iginla, Peter Chiarelli listed several players he needs to re-sign in the future.
On Sports Tonight, Michael Felger suggested that Chiarelli values his players too much.
"Not too much, but he certainly values them a lot," said Danny Picard. "If you're looking that far ahead for certain guys to re-sign them… I think he believes in keeping the young core group around, the team that was here that won a championship."
Felger believes Chiarelli should change his philosophy.
"The Chicago Blackhawks rifle through guys at the end of every year and they're still, I think, the best team in the league," said Felger. "I don't understand why you have to be so wedded to players that weren't even good enough to get out of the second."
