*According to reports, the Montreal Canadiens won’t have Thomas Vanek, Douglas Murray or George Parros returning next season. The Vanek thing was a given and Parros just never worked out after that freak injury to open the season.

*Cam Neely is returning to the Dumb and Dumber sequel as Sea Bass. Good stuff.

*The Washington Capitals say they have no plans of buying out Brooks Laich for the time being.

*Adam Proteau doesn’t want Gary Bettman to continue handing out the Stanley Cup to the winning team. Given the way things have worked out for the NHL since the end of the last lockout, I’ve not as keen on this one anymore. Bettman is at the forefront of an NHL renaissance that’s made the league as successful as it’s ever been, and he deserves some credit for that.

*The Blue Jackets plan to match any offer sheets for star forward and restricted free agent Ryan Johansen.

*Ken Campbell says this is what the Los Angeles Kings have to change in order to finish out the Cup Final: absolutely nothing.

*Paul Stewart says there is no excuse for a lack of hustle from NHL referees, particularly during the playoffs.

*For something completely different: Soundgarden tells the back stories behind some of the more well-known songs.
