Friday, Dec. 23: Caps worried about Ovechkin's scoring?

Share

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading while saluting Jaromir Jagr and the butt shot heard round the world last night in Florida.

*Alex Ovechkin isn’t scoring as much as he should be. Should the Washington Capitals be concerned at this point?

*Benoit Pouliot is deep within the coach’s doghouse in Edmonton. I could have predicted this one a long time ago.

*Things are getting tense out in Colorado where the media is starting to call for Joe Sakic’s head after Patrick Roy already exited the building.

*Will the Toronto Maple Leafs eventually get the right-shot defenseman that they’re looking for under the Christmas tree?

*As referenced above, Jaromir Jagr made history by moving into second place all-time on the NHL scoring list with a shot that deflected off his Hall of Fame backside. Speaking of Jagr, Ken Campbell from the Hockey News wonders if anybody will ever catch Jagr in the No. 2 spot because there’s no freakin’ way anybody is ever going to surpass Wayne Gretzky in the No. 1 overall spot given the state of NHL offense these days.

*Rookie defenseman Zack Werenski has been a major factor for the Blue Jackets in their rise into a playoff team this season.

*For something completely different: Steve Kerr said the Golden State Warriors finally pulled away last night’s game when the Millenials put down their phones and started focusing on basketball. Love the honesty.
