Friday, April 22: Why one slur shouldn't define Shaw's legacy

Here are links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading, while truly saddened by the loss of Prince. I never got to see him play live, and will forever wonder about him being found dead on an elevator after singing “Don’t let the elevator bring us down” on “Let’s Go Crazy” more than 30 years ago.

*Mark Lazerus writes that Andrew Shaw’s regrettable on-ice outburst shouldn’t define his legacy with the Blackhawks. It feels like there are too many of those “(insert Blackhawks player here) shouldn’t have his legacy defined by his bad behavior” columns being written lately.

*Speaking of the Blackhawks, FOH (Friend and Haggs) and PHT writer Mike Halford Patrick Kane keeps Chicago alive with a beauty of a goal in double-overtime that forces a Game 6.

*Cam Neely drops an F-bomb on Felger and Mazz on Thursday while answering questions after another disappointing season. The Bruins President sounds understandably angry and agitated, and that feels about right for where this team currently sits after a second straight year with a total nose dive at the end.

*The Nashville Predators top line is coming up short against the Anaheim Ducks in a series that was always going to be an uphill climb for them.

*It was ugly, but the Tampa Bay Lightning did what they had to do in the first round without Steve Stamkos or Anton Stralman.

*For something completely different: while everybody knows Prince’s big hits, here are a bunch of songs he wrote or influenced that you might not know about.
