The United States' run in the World Cup is over.
In an article in the Boston Globe, Dan Shaughnessy said, "Thank god we now can ignore the World Cup and get on with our lives."
After being attacked on another show for not being a soccer fan, Shaughnessy joined Arbella Early Edition to plead his case.
"I'm not a hater, not a basher, but there's this intolerance that, 'if you don't love our game then there's something wrong with you,'" said Shaughnessy. "I understand people who don't love baseball, it's okay. All I ask is the same courtesy, if I didn't grow up with it, don't tell me I'm an idiot if I don't love it. I don't love it, okay?"
What is he taking away from the World Cup?
"It was a great party. The thing is growing, I understand that," said Shaughnessy. "It's a great global event but the U.S. team is done, it moves on, we'll see you in four years."
