Franklin Morales will make a rehab start with the Pawtucket Red Sox tonight down in Charlotte. According to reports, the lefty be limited to 50 pitches during the outing.
Morales threw two scoreless innings on Wednesday for Double-A Portland. It had been previously reported that Morales will need two more outings after tonight's before he's ready to return to the big-league club.
Morales began feeling some lower-back soreness during spring training in early March. He received an injection for a bulging disc in his back later that month and was placed on the 15-day on March 31.
He was diagnosed with a left pectoral strain late last month, but it appears as though he's progressed enough to start tonight for the PawSox. The depleted Red Sox bullpen could use his help.
