ARLINGTON, Texas -- Will Middlebrooks, who committed two errors and stranded four baserunners Saturday, was out of the lineup Sunday, but that plan was in place before his off-night.
Pedro Ciriaco was at third base in place of Middlebrooks in the road trip finale.
"We had planned on this road trip to try to rotate some guys through," said manager John Farrell, "and get some guys off their feet and today's that day for Will. I don't know if it's strictly because of (Texas starter Yu) Darvish is on the mound; it's more where we are with a day game after a night game and a planned day down for him."
Shane Victorino was also out of the starting lineup.
"He's fine physically," explained Farrell. "But coming back from what he's been dealing with (back soreness), we didn't want to run him out there for too many consecutive days, to gradually get him back in to everyday play."
