The Red Sox winning the World Series has caught everyone’s attention, even the other professional athletes who call Boston home.
“It’s a hell of a team over there, a lot of character,” said Bruins’ right winger Shawn Thornton. “They really put it together this year. We’re very proud of them. I think it’s pretty well documented that the sports teams around here really support each other, so we’re part of that.”
Overcoming many odds, the Red Sox’s resiliency to win the World Series can teach something to the other Boston teams.
“Before the season, nobody picked them to do anything,” said Celtics’ forward Jeff Green. “They picked them to fall short of probably making the playoffs. But, the way they stuck together, the way they played as a team, the way they bought into their role and what they can do best to help the team win, they all did that. And that’s why they were able to win the World Series.”
