The "best news" on Alex Rodriguez's rehab process lasted about as long as the infamous pause in his steroid-use apology to his Yankees teammates in 2009.

Rodriguez Tweeted on Tuesday, "Visit from Dr. [Bryan] Kelly over the weekend, who gave me the best news - the green light to play games again!"

Unfortunately for A-Rod, Dr. Kelly no longer has any say in when he is to make the next step in rehab on his hip. On Monday, Cashman said A-Rod hadn't been cleared by team doctors.

Reached by ESPN New York on Tuesday, Cashman gave A-Rod the red light on speaking.

"You know what, when the Yankees want to announce something, [we will]," Cashman told ESPN New York. "Alex should just shut the [expletive] up. That's it. I'm going to call Alex now."

A-Rod is under contract with the Yankees through the 2017 season. It sure sounds like four more seasons of pure bliss.
