Rex Ryan will enter the 2013 season in what appears to be a lame duck year for the beleaguered Jets head coach--barring a Parcells-esque turnaround that is.
Like his also much-maligned quarterback Mark Sanchez, though, that won't preclude Ryan from having a summer of fun.
Ryan was spotted in Spain this past week, specifically in Pamplona for one of the world's most recognized events, the annual running of the bulls. The Jets' lead man apparently wasn't worried about people knowing of his whereabouts either, as he even took a photo at the event with NBC's Ben Patton and two other guys. He was wearing a bright red T-shirt with the words "Bad Toro" inscribed on it in the picture.
With a little more than two weeks until Jets training camp opens and still many leaks to fill on the team's roster, a cozy (and potentially dangerous) trip to Spain would appear in poor taste for Ryan, who has held the team's reigns since 2009.
Yet, it would be quite ridiculous to expect an NFL coach to be concerned about his job 24/7/365. These guys have lives outside the game too, and should be allowed to carry them out as any person would.
So this is nothing more than a 50-year-old man reclaiming a bit of his youth. If he had embarked on this trip during Week 4, then he would have some questions to answer.
