There's a Patriots reunion of sorts set to take place in Atlanta.

Former New England vice president of player personnel and Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli has been hired by the Falcons to be the team's assistant general manager.

The man Pioli will be reporting to? Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff, who served under Pioli in New England as the team's director of college scouting.

Pioli spent the last year in football on the media side of things, working for NBC and SiriusXM NFL. He worked for the Patriots from 2000-08 and helped Bill Belichick construct teams that won three championships in four seasons and then served as Chiefs GM from 2009-12. Though Kansas City made a change after a two losing seasons, Pioli helped build what eventually became a winner there too. Now his fingerprints are all over this year's Pro Bowl.

The Falcons also announced on Wednesday that director of player personnel Lionel Vital is remaining with the team.
