The Patriots have released cornerback Marquice Cole.
Cole had been battling a hamstring injury that limited him against the Bucs.
He played 15 games with one start last season for the Patriots and finished with 12 total tackles, one interception, three passes defenses and seven special teams tackles. He also played in both postseason games, adding four defensive tackles and four special teams tackles.
He played in the team's first three games this year mostly in a special teams role.
The Patriots originally signed Cole as a free agent on March 19, 2012. They re-signed him on March 20, 2013 before cutting him on Sept. 1 and then re-signing him a dat later on Sept. 2.
