On Sunday, the Patriots will travel to Atlanta to take on the Falcons in what many are considering the Patriots’ first true test of the season.

They will go up against Atlanta’s high-powered offense with Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and Roddy White.

Glenn Ordway, Fred Smerlas, and Steve DeOssie broke down the matchups on New England Tailgate.

“If you have coverage man-to-man, don’t bite on things,” said Smerlas on how to cover Jones on Sunday. “Safeties have to play their position. And you need a pass rush. Not only is it an accurate quarterback, but Ryan is a very smart quarterback. Be careful, play your position, don’t get out of position.

The Patriots’ defense will go up against the former Boston College quarterback, as Ryan is 34-5 at the Georgia Dome in his career.

“That crowd noise is tremendous and they know how to use it quite well,” said DeOssie on why Ryan is so good at home. “The turf is set up for a fast receiver game. You are looking at a number of reasons and a lot of teams are that much better at home. The fact is [Ryan] has been steady and he makes less mistakes than he does on the road.”
