FOXBORO -- Ryan Mallett was not present at Patriots training camp practice Sunday afternoon, which prompted reporters to ask coach Bill Belichick about the quarterback's whereabouts following the session.
"There’re all different players in different physical situations," Belichick said, "so I'm not going to get into all that. We’d be here all day."
If it's a physical situation that kept Mallett off the field, as Belichick suggested, indications are that the situation isn't a big deal.
Mallett missed practice time this spring with a left knee injury, and he dug his left knee brace into the turf at FedEx Field on Thursday night in New England's preseason game with the Redskins. It was an awkward and seemingly jarring slide, but Mallett remained in the game and ended up 5-for-12 for 55 yards passing.
We'll continue to keep tabs on Mallett's attendance this week. The Patriots will practice normally on Monday and then host the Eagles for two joint practices on Tuesday and Wednesday.
