HOUSTON -- Here are the Patriots’ halftime scores since October 27. Trailing Houston, 17-7. Trailing Denver, 24-0. Trailing Carolina, 10-3. Up against Steelers, 24-10. Trailing Dolphins, 17-3. The Patriots’ persistence in starting slowly has been remarkable. Ironically, the Jets game they lost on the road? They led 21-10 at the half.
* The Patriots tackling in the back-seven in the first half was disturbing. Ben Tate has two touchdowns -- 20 and 8 yards -- and has run for 61 yards on 12 carries.
* Tom Brady’s start statistically wasn’t bad -- 11-for-18 for 108 yards -- but he’s not made the Texans pay for the amount of time they are giving him.
* Andre Johnson is proving to be a big issue -- four catches on four targets for 59 yards.
* Brandon Bolden carried three times for 2 yards then got shelved for the rest of the half.
* The Patriots are really missing the secondary leadership of Steve Gregory this week, it seems. A few communication issues rising up.
