Boston Globe legend Bob Ryan joined Gary Tanguay and Mike Felger on Sports Tonight to talk Celtics, and specifically the job Brad Stevens has done so far in his first NBA season.
All three are very impressed with his coaching and feel like he might be the real deal.
"There's a sense of order and organization to this team," Ryan said. "He's everything so far early that we were told."
Ryan went on to talk about one of the great experiences he's had already this year with the win over the Heat.
The guys also agreed that he has his players playing hard for him, and perhaps buying in to the system.
"It's getting them to buy into what he's selling," Ryan said. "They appear to be doing it so far. But he did need some validation of some W's. If they were in all 8 games and were 0-8 we wouldn't be having this discussion. But they have been in all 8 and have pulled some games out and now they're 4-4 and they're feeling good about themselves."
The injury to Jared Sullinger is a bit of a concern to Ryan, but he also gives Kelly Olynyk high marks early on.
"Great draft pick I think Olynyk," Ryan said. "I'm not going to say great player or All-Star player, but he is a big man who is mobile who can pass and shoot. And when a big man can pass, it enhances an offense immeasurably."
