WALTHAM, Mass. — Rajon Rondo continues to inch closer towards a return to the Boston Celtics lineup, but his position among All-Star candidates remains unchanged.

The latest round of All-Star balloting was announced on Thursday and Rondo remains sixth - the same as he was in the first round of balloting - among Eastern Conference backcourt players.

Rondo, who has received 111,335 votes, has yet to play in a game this season for Boston - the only player in the top 10 among Eastern Conference backcourt players with that distinction.

Fellow Celtic Jeff Green is ninth among frontcourt players, a slight dip from his eighth-place standing after the first announced ballot numbers.

Green has 78,693 votes.

Headlining all players is Miami's LeBron James with 854,105 votes. Right on James' heels is Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant with 850,728 followed by Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant (723,031).

If the starting five were chosen today, James, Indiana's Paul George and Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks would be in the frontcourt for the East, joined by Miami's Dwyane Wade and Cleveland's Kyrie Irving in the backcourt.

For the West, Durant, Houston's Dwight Howard and Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin would be joined by Bryant and Clippers guard Chris Paul.

This season's All-Star game will be in New Orleans on Feb. 16. Balloting ends Jan. 20, with the starters announced on Jan. 23.
