Jared Sullinger has employed lawyers that are the part of the legal defense team with which Aaron Hernandez has been fighting his case, according to reports from Waltham District Court this morning.

Attorneys Charles Rankin and Jamie Sultan of Rankin & Sultan were with Sullinger at Waltham District Court for his arraignment Tuesday.

Sultan successfully overturned convictions on appeal when he represented the Amirault family in post-conviction litigation of the Fells Acre Day Care Center child abuse case. According to USA Today, he also won new trials for two clients convicted of murder, winning appeals for Linrose Woodbine in 2012, and Thomas Toolan in 2011.

"Both (Sultan) and Charlie are really, really smart lawyers that are good at identifying issues and solving problems. Both are very talented legal writers and have a reputation for being top-notch appellate lawyers," Chris Dearborn, a criminal law professor at Suffolk University, told USA Today. "But they both have very good trial skills, and do a phenomenal job in the court room during the trial."

Hernandez is also represented by Michael Fee of Ropes & Gray LLP, primarily known as a corporate attorney.
