Now that the Doc Rivers situation is (finally) settled, what of Paul Pierce? And Kevin Garnett?

Pierce's status will be determined before next week, when the Celtics can exercise an out clause in his contract. Garnett, rumored to be moving to L.A. with Rivers before the NBA put the kibosh on that part of the deal, is coming back to Boston . . . or is he?

Knowing that Garnett may want out of a rebuilding process, teams are beginning to contact the Celts about Garnett's availability. One of the first: The Nets. According to the New York Daily News:

"Multiple sources told the Daily News that the Nets GM inquired about Kevin Garnett’s desire to join Deron Williams in Brooklyn, but King didn’t get an answer while uncertainty surrounds the Celtics.

"But it’s no surprise King inquired about Garnett, a 15-time All-Star and former MVP. The Nets not only desire a reliable starting power forward, they could use a vocal and respected leader. Garnett fits the mold."

The Nets also expressed interest in Garnett during his short foray into free agency two years ago.
