The Celtics have reached a crossroads. The personalities of Doc Rivers, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen are no longer walking through that door. As a result, the team must now find a new identity to rise back to NBA prominence, something easier said than done in the association.
The C’s front office will have to decide what kind of coach they want to bring in to replace Rivers, as well as decide what they will do with current treasure Rajon Rondo, Jared Sullinger, Jeff Green, Avery Bradley, and newly-drafted big man Kelly Olynyk. Those are one of many issues Celtics brass will need to address in the coming days, weeks, and months, and team CEO Wyc Grousbeck acknowledges that.
“I think the worst mistake is to fool yourself into thinking you're just a player away," said Grousbeck in a sit-down interview with CSNNE's Greg Dickerson. "We take Celtic pride very seriously. We’re going to get this thing back where it needs to be, and it starts right here and it starts with just doing the work.”
