Doc Rivers didn't surprise too many people when he announced on Thursday that he would return for his 10th season as Celtics head coach. But there still appears to be some relief within the organization.
Greg Dickerson sat down with Celtics Insider A. Sherrod Blakely on Sports Sunday to discuss the impact of Rivers' decision to return to the Celtics and what it means for the team moving forward.
“More than anything else it means stability at the top and that's one of the things that Doc has provided with the Celtics -- his ability to lead men to not just being competitive but to being one of the better teams in the NBA,” Blakely said.
Blakely also talked about the future of Paul Pierce Kevin Garnett, and whether or not it changes Ainge's approach to the offseason. According to Blakely, it won't change a thing and ultimately the Celtics only options in regards to Pierce is to either trade him or bring him back for another season.
