Thornton: ‘Can't imagine' Bruins tuning Julien out

Former Bruins enforcer Shawn Thornton joined Arbella Early Edition to discuss his former team missing the playoffs.

In fact, Thornton's Florida Panthers had a big role in eliminating the Bruins from the postseason.

"It was all me, obviously," joked Thornton. "We wanted to perform well for ourselves. Some guys are fighting for jobs. I still have some good friends on that team. If we weren't in already I was kind of pulling for them. They had to win the next one and they needed some help, they didn't get it."

Thornton played under Claude Julien for seven seasons before leaving for Florida, and he isn't buying rumors that the locker room started to tune out their coach.

"Seven years in one place, I know people start to speculate with that," said Thornton. "All I can talk about was my last year. He still had the room. He still commanded a presence and guys listened to him and trusted in the system. You obviously had different personnel this year coming through. It takes a little time to adjust to different systems when guys are coming in. I still listened to him when I left, I can't imagine the guys just tuning him out."
