WILMINGTON -- Adam McQuaid is missing from the ice for the fourth straight day after suffering what appeared to be a groin/hip injury against the Toronto Maple Leafs last weekend. There is still no determination that’s been made on the severity of the injury, but the Black and Gold are still rolling with six defensemen at practice, indicating it’s not that serious in nature.
“He’s still day-to-day," said coach Claude Julien. "He’s not skating right now because he’s not capable of it. We keep hoping he keeps improving, and we’ll see where he stands by then.”
His absence from practice makes it more than likely McQuaid will miss Thursday's game against Columbus, which is the team that drafted him.
Julien added that the Bruins haven’t yet discussed whether McQuaid would be in any shape to travel with the team on the upcoming road trip through Ottawa, Carolina and New York that follows Thursday night’s homestand finale with the Blue Jackets.
The game won't be a reunion with new Columbus forward Nathan Horton since he’s still more than a month away from a return after offseason shoulder surgery.
Otherwise the Bruins are featuring the same forward groups and defensemen pairings as in Monday’s win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Here are the forward combs and D-pairings:
