BOSTON -- Marian Hossa took part in pregame warmups on Monday night prior to game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final at the TD Garden. But he was a late scratch because of an upper-body injury.

Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said on Tuesday that Hossa is "likely" to play in Game 4 on Wednesday night.

He also answered questions regarding the team's process to play Ben Smith in Hossa's absence. Smith did not participate in the pregame warmup, but Quenneville said that was their plan all along.

"Ben was ready," said Quenneville on Tuesday. "I know that he was doing everything he can. We were hopeful that Hossa was playing, and Ben was doing everything to get ready. And he was ready.

"He would have taken the warm-up if we wanted him to take the warm-up. He knew that there was a chance he was going to play. So, he was getting himself ready. I just didn't want to tip our hand that there was something going on."
