I'd love to see Durant and Curry together

Yesterday Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reported that Golden State was ready to make a play for Kevin Durant when he becomes a free agent this summer. The Warriors claim to have the cap room and are ready to spend.

This seems like a great deal on paper. But how would it actually work on the floor?

I tapped into the CSNNE experts to get their thoughts. Hall of Fame player and coach Tommy Heinsohn gave me that big chuckle of his -- the kind that shakes the room and your television set -- and said “Well, there is only one ball.”

Enough said, Tommy. And Tommy Gun should know, because he wasn't afraid to put it up when he played the great Celtic teams of the late '50s and early '60s.

Tommy’s better half in the booth for over thirty years, the cerebral Mike Gorman told me “You can’t have too many cooks in the kitchen.”

Mike asked, “Why would the defending champ who currently has only four losses want to change anything?” Mike also pointed out that while the Warriors may have the cap room, what would the KD signing do to the Warriors bench? Would they be able to keep guys like Sean Livingston and Harrison Barnes? All very valid questions.

CSNNE Celtic Insider A. Sharrod Blakely told me he isn't convinced KD and Steph Curry would learn to play off one another, and therefore it wouldn't work.

All are correct in their evaluations. But I still want to see the best play with the best. Gary Payton and Karl Malone were past their prime when their Laker experiment failed. Look at the 2008 Celtics. Paul Pierce welcomed Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen with open arms and they could have won possibly two more titles if Kendrick Perkins hadn't been traded and KG hadn't gotten hurt.

Then there is there is LeBron James’s trip to South Beach. Two titles, but I will always feel they should have won more. They struggled, chemistry-wise, in the first year of LBJ, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

There is the concern that KD’s arrival would diminish the shots of Klay Thompson. I'm okay with that. KD is a great player and would we ever have heard of Thompson if he didn’t have a brother to splash with?

The reality is KD will probably stay in Oklahoma City. I have heard he likes the vibe there and enjoys riding his bike of the flat roads of the Midwest. But I hope it happens. I hope KD and Steph work together and set aside their egos because it would be great to watch their masterpiece develop before our eyes on the floor.
