If the Orioles are going to be a threat to the Red Sox, they'll have to play better than they did Tuesday night.

The Sox took care of the O's easily Tuesday night, 13-2, but before the game Gary Tanguay and Dan Shaughnessy discussed the possibility of Baltimore playing spoiler in the AL East this season.

"I talked to a few people, I talked to Brian Roberts who is leading off for [the Orioles], he said, 'well if somebody goes 8-1 or 9-0, it could be a difference maker . . . but if it's a 4-5, 5-4 split, it doesn't do a lot.' The Sox have a four-game lead on them in the loss column coming in, five-and-a-half overall. The Sox are well-positioned, and they pitched so darn well on the West Coast that you have a better feeling about it, at least I do."
