The 3 up...

Jon Lester: Has allowed only two earned runs in his past 15 innings. Got his 15th win last Friday.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia: Went 4-for-5 in 15-5 rout of the Rockies on Wednesday, has nine-game hitting streak and his average is above .270.

Shane Victorino: Has eight hits since Sept. 18, including a three-run homer on Wednesday.

The 3 down...

Mike Carp: Only three hits since Sept. 12.

Jake Peavy: Has allowed 15 runs, 15 hits and 13 walks in four September starts.

Brandon Workman: Has allowed 11 runs in nine September appearances, including three in one-third of an inning against the Rockies on Tuesday.
