The worst season of Bobby Valentine's managerial career got a little more painful Tuesday, when he fell into a ditch while riding his bicycle in Central Park.
According to the New York Times, Valentine said he was reading a text message from Dustin Pedroia while he was riding, then looked up to see two people walking in front of him. He put on his breaks, skidded (the path was wet and slippery from rain), and "went careening head over pedals down the side of the hill by the road".
"I shouldnt have been reading a text while I was riding," Valentine said. "Thats the wrong thing to do. But at least I was wearing my helmet."
Valentine said he suffered minor injuries to his knees and hips.
