Tony Massarotti is on the record as saying he'd trade Jon Lester for the right prospects.
Well, reports indicate the Royals are interested in Lester for prospect Wil Myers. Mazz isn't biting though. How come?
"I don't think the kid that the Royals are offering is as good as the Royals are saying. I have my doubts, that's why. Because if you're a team like Kansas City, and you have a stud prospect in your system, that's a guaranteed sure-fire thing in the Major Leagues, why would you move him?"
But is Lester an ace? And can he be the leader of the staff with John Lackey lurking around? Mike Felger and Mazz wonder.
Either way, the Sox have been light on the spending, and have actually unloaded a ton of payroll over the last few months.
Should we read into that as them thinking about selling the team?
"I don't think you can discount it," Mazz said.
