Shawn Thornton has been through a lockout before. This time is different for him. Without the option of going to the AHL, why is Shawn Thornton not playing in Europe like many other players?
"I've been looking for a job over there for months now. The European teams are holding out for the big boys" Said Thornton. "My skill-set isn't appreciated as much over there I suppose."
So what has he been up to?
"Now I'm sitting here skating with eight to ten other guys from the area." said Thornton."You try to stay motivated. Going for runs at night, boxing, lifting, and trying to keep your weight where it needs to be in as good shape as possible just in case (the NHL) does come back."
The most important question Thornton was asked was, who would he rather punch: Felger or "Barry Gettman?"
"I've been dying to punch anyone lately, so this is a tough one." said Thornton, "I think calling out 'Barry Gettman' probably isn't going to expedite the process as much as we would all like that to happen."
Draymond Green isn’t exactly known as being the most respectful competitor, so perhaps it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he spent the early minutes of last night’s game against the Clippers telling Paul Pierce he isn’t a legend.
Pierce, who will retire at the end of the season, was not in the game at the time, but Green called to him from the court, telling him nobody would give him a farewell tour.
“Chasing that farewell tour. They don’t love you like that,” Green said. “You can’t get that farewell tour. They don’t love you like that.”
Green then said something else that was tough to hear through the broadcast before adding, “You thought you was Kobe?”
After the game, Pierce responded on Twitter, going to the easiest and most obvious insult available. As Chris Rock once said, “If I’m driving, and someone crashes into me with one leg, I’m gonna talk about the leg.”
