Heaps: We got control and never let go

New England Revolution head coach Jay Heaps talks about his team’s 4-0 victory over Real Salt Lake.

"It was really about how we going to try to take this game to them," Heaps said. "We needed to gain control of the game. We needed to up our tempo, and make sure that we were playing at a higher pace, and that takes a little while. You can't just go guns blazing right away, so we just needed to assume control. And once we did, we never let go."

It appeared as if this might be the most impressive and complete performance of the Revs' season. But Heaps would outright say it. Instead he pointed to specific strengths the team exhibited.

"Our movement was really good in the attacking third. We were hitting both ways. We were keeping the ball, and then we were able to spring longer stuff to open up the field for Charlie (Davies), which is when we're really good," Heaps said.
