Felger & Mazz: Has Betts made himself trade untouchable?

Against the Nationals at Red Sox Opening Day, Mookie Betts wowed by robbing Bryce Harper of a home run, stealing two bases in one play, and nailing a homer. After his dominant performance, Felger & Mazz wondered whether Betts has made himself trade untouchable for the Sox. Their assessment was that he was invaluable and therefore not on the trade block.

"I feel like he single-handedly won you that game," Michael Felger said. "Of all those plays, the steal that he made was my favorite play by far. I love -- I'm a sucker for the heady ballplayer, right? The guy who knows the game, is intelligent, feels the game, and that sort of intangible."

Tony Massarotti was in full agreement.

"I don't get overly geeked up about a play that catches everybody's eye," Mazz said, "because they don't happen that often, so I look for the regular stuff, like what can you do repeatedly? But he's got an instinct for the game."
