Valentine: How is banning beer a PR move?

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- On Monday morning, former Red Sox manager Terry Francona called Bobby Valentines ban on beer in the clubhouse a PR move, even though Valentine, when he announced the ban, said he has had similar bans for other teams he has managed.

I dont know. How is it PR? Valentine said after the days workout. That means like 20 teams are looking for PR and that's why theyre making good decisions?

Francona is now an analyst for ESPN and made his comments to ESPN Radio. Valentine held a similar position prior to taking the Sox job. Asked if Franconas comments might add a little spice to the first Sunday night Red Sox game hes scheduled to work, Valentine responded:

I doubt it. Remember you get paid over there for saying stuff. You get paid over here for doing stuff.
