Raptors burning Celtics with huge halftime lead

The Boston Celtics look well on their way to getting blown out for the second straight game as the Toronto Raptors go into the half with a commanding 55-41 lead.

Boston fell behind by as many as 19 points before the Celtics went on a 7-0 run in the final minutes of the half.

Despite Friday night being Toronto’s fourth game in five nights, they were the aggressor from the opening tip-off as they opened the game with a 10-2 run.

Toronto would eventually pull ahead by as many as 16 points in the first.

Boston’s uphill battle continued throughout the second quarter, with seemingly no one getting into any kind of rhythm scoring the ball or limiting the red-hot shooting of the Raptors.

The two teams exchanged a slew of missed shots in the final minutes of play as Toronto took a comfortable double-digit lead into the half.

Here are three pointers from the first half:

Scola time

Toronto’s Luis Scola isn’t an all-star for Toronto like Kyle Lowry or DeMar DeRozan, but he sure played like one in the first half. Scola led all scorers at the half with 17 points on 7-for-11 shooting.

Boston turnovers

With Toronto shooting around 50 percent most of the first half, the Celtics did not do themselves any favors in consistently turning the ball over. At the half, Boston had 10 turnovers.

Celtics bench production

Boston has struggled with its scoring in the first half, but it certainly isn’t the fault of the team’s second unit. They have 21 points at the half, compared to Toronto’s second unit scoring 14 points.
