Pete Carroll confirms Seahawks had Antonio Brown interest before Patriots signing

The New England Patriots were able to convince Antonio Brown to take his talents to Gillette Stadium, but the defending Super Bowl champs weren't the only team interested in signing the elite wide receiver.

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll confirmed Monday his team's interest in Brown following the 31-year-old veteran's release from the Oakland Raiders on Saturday.

The Patriots and Brown reportedly agreed to a one-year contract worth up to $15 million on Saturday. His signing still hasn't been officially announced by the Pats, but they reportedly made two transactions Monday that opened up a roster spot for Brown.

FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reported Sunday the Patriots were among three teams interested in Brown.

Brown and the Seahawks could have been a really good fit. Seattle doesn't have a true No. 1 wide receiver and lost a key part of its offense over the summer with the retirement of Doug Baldwin. Rookie wideout DK Metcalf impressed in his pro debut Sunday with four receptions for 89 yards. Trusting a rookie to be your most talented wide receiver is far from an ideal scenario, though. Playing in Seattle also would have allowed Brown to play with one of the league's best quarterbacks in Russell Wilson.

The Seahawks could have been tempting for Brown, but it's hard to blame him for choosing the Patriots. New England is the best place if you want to win games and improve your image around the league.
