Max Talbot called back up by Bruins

BOSTON – Max Talbot is back up with the Bruins as his back-and-forth odyssey between the NHL and AHL continues this season.

With Frank Vatrano ruled out Saturday after sustaining an upper body injury in Thursday’s win over the Minnesota Wild, the Bruins will welcome the 31-year-old grinding forward in Talbot back. He was called back up to Boston on Saturday on emergency recall after Joe Morrow was used in an emergency capacity as a forward at B’s practice on Friday morning.

Talbot had a goal and seven points in seven games in two stints with the Providence Bruins this season, but had zero points and a minus-3 rating for Boston this season. Talbot should fit into a fourth line role with Zac Rinaldo and Tyler Randell while Joonas Kemppainen is expected to play third line with Ryan Spooner moving to the wing. That was the forward setup that Claude Julien was looking at practice Friday with a makeshift group of forwards.

Here is the projected lineup of forward combos and D-pairings based on Friday practice and the Talbot call-up.
